1980

1980 is a instrumental jazz metal quartet hailing from France.
After a first experimental project including Armand, Pablo (guitars), and Mathieu (drums), the band reborns in 2003 and takes its actual form with Ben's joining (bass) and a fresh synthetisers use. They start composing and working on what they freely name “Brutal Jazz” : instrumental music build on the duality between free-minded approach from Jazz, mixed to brutal sounds and constructions from modern Metal .
It results a unique music sounding like Meshuggah and Weather Report, with dramatic influence from Angelo Badalamenti .

They rename the band 1980 after the first album’s recording sessions, a way to remind the world they was born in, the social / historical and multimediatic oppressive mess, childhood in shinning southern France…
Actually, 1980 is working on new material and a second album should be recorded for the end 2009 .
