DYMBUR is an Indian experimental metal band, formed in Shillong, Meghalaya in February 2012.

DYMBUR” is a word of KHASI origin that translates into English as “Fig Tree”. The KHASI people are an indigenous tribe, who live in the State of Meghalaya which is in the north eastern part of India. The word DYMBUR is taken from “The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree” found in the Bible. It is about a fig tree which does not produce fruit.

DYMBUR’ - The fig tree symbolizing rebirth, progression and evolution, of victory after struggle, Fresh leaves from old branches forming new shapes defining one of nature’s basic laws, the ability to regenerate and grow anew after a dry spell.

The Shillong based band DYMBUR has definitely taken the hard road to be one of the best well known Metal acts from Shillong, India. Following years of hard work, the band emerged in February 2012, and there was no turning back since then. They became the first band from Shillong to use the ‘Djent’ guitar tone and down-tuned Schecter Omen 8 string guitars. They are one of the bands that mixes elements of progressive and experimental metal together effectively, all while keeping the listener constantly interested with baited breath wondering just what is coming next.

In 2015, DYMBUR started promoting their own band updates, songs and videos through their facebook band page and other social networking sites with message boards and tagged them with the word "thraat".
Thraat, when pronounced found to be extremely funny. Cornelius Kharsyntiew says that ‘thraat’ could be referred to the sound of Triplets being played and the sound of the abrupt stops in the band’s music. Thus, admits to including this word in the band’s official communication without any good explanation, which became popular.

Since its formation, DYMBUR has released two singles and an official music video.
