Outrun The Sunlight

Outrun The Sunlight is a progressive instrumental metal studio project started by Austin Peters and Cody McCarty in February 2011. The original intention was to experiment with music composition and sound recording, as neither Austin or Cody had any prior recording experience. Equipped with a Presonus guitar interface, Garageband, and a few ideas, the two hashed together their demo EP "Architecture of the Cosmos" which caught the eye of many listeners, blog-sites, Facebook fan pages, and other artists, and through the miracle of social networking, Outrun The Sunlight was able to build a fan-base that was strictly limited to the internet.

Having yet to play a single show, OTS continued writing music over the summer of 2011, compiling ideas and concepts to eventually create their debut full-length "The Return of Inertia," which was released on December 20th. Influenced by The Contortionist, Animals As Leaders, and other modern progressive metal acts, the record combined ambience and heaviness to create an emotional and dynamic sound, achieving high ratings (3.5/5 on Heavy Blog is Heavy, 4/5 on Sputnik), and caught the attention of San Francisco-based label Rogue Records America. After expressing interest in the band, OTS and Rogue inked a 2-year contract, and set "The Return of Inertia Vocalist Re-Release" to be the first release under the new label.
