The Algorithm and Skyharbor sign to Basick Records (updated)


Basick Records reports that French solo artist Remi Gallego, AKA The Algorithm, and India-based band Skyharbor have signed to the label.

The Algorithm is gearing up to release a new single titled 'Tr0jans', which will include new versions of 'Isometry' and 'Antikythera Mechanism' as well as a new song, in early 2012. Skyharbor will release their debut album 'Blinding White Noise: Illusion & Chaos' around the same time. The album was announced to be delayed earlier, but no reason was given at that point. It will feature guest appearances by Daniel Tompkins (ex-TesseracT), Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth), Vishal J. Singh (Amogh Symphony) and Sunneith Revankar(Bhayanak Maut).

Animals as Leaders may sign to Sumerian Records

6 posted an article reviewing day one of the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. The article comments on many bands performances including Turbid North, The Faceless, Ultrageist, Structures, and Veil Of Maya.

Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders announced "Thanks to Sumerian Records for putting this show on...We haven’t signed with Sumerian yet." This slip of the tongue seems to indicate that a deal with Sumerian Records is imminent. In addition, they recently signed T.R.A.M., a new band featuring Tosin Abasi on guitars. Animals as Leaders were previously signed to Prosthetic Records and have released only one album through them.

Katatura sign with STF records


Katatura have announced that they've signed to STF records. The band will be releasing their debut album 'In Two Minds' on October 25th. It will feature 10 tracks. A teaser was posted on their Myspace page last month.

TesseracT sign with Century Media, US tour with Devin Townsend


TesseracT have posted a video on their Facebook page which announces their signing to major metal label Century Media. Earlier this month, the band had already hinted that they would tour the US in the fall. The video confirms this, and indicates that they will be touring with Devin Townsend.

Periphery sign to Roadrunner Records Australia


Periphery have signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records Australia, for the distribution of their upcoming self-titled debut album. The album will be released in Australia and New Zealand on April 16th. This is 4 days earlier than in North America, where the album will be available on April 20th from Sumerian Records. A video of the signing is available, watch it below.

In a video interview with, the band had already indicated that the album will be distributed by Roadrunner Records worldwide. In Europe, it will probably be released in May.

Chimp Spanner signs to Basick Records, announces 'At the Dream's Edge' re-release, uploads 'Bad Code' playthrough video


Paul Ortiz, a.k.a. Chimp Spanner has confirmed in a new video uploaded on his YouTube account that he has signed a deal with Basick Records, something which had been rumoured on this site earlier this week.

At the Dream's Edge will be re-released on Basick Records on 12th April, 2010.

It was also announced today that Paul has plans to form a live band, as reported here.

UPDATE: The Basick Records website seems to indicate that Chimp Spanner will be performing with his live band (which features members of Fellsilent) throughout the UK and Europe, including a date at Euroblast Festival in Cologne, Germany in October this year. This is the first lineup announcement to be made about the festival. is cooperating with the organisers for this edition, because it will feature a 'djent' lineup.
