It just occurred to me that I only actually know standard tuning for an 8 string (F#,B,E,A,D,G,B,E i think) and I can't seem to find anything online. Anyone care to enlighten me on any others? Although standard will do fine for now I think Tongue

Well the first that comes to my mind is Drop E: (E,B,E,A,D,G,B,E), which is what my band uses.

Well there's the high A tuning, but you'd need a custom strings for that rly

Thanks for the info, turns out my crappy tuner won't even let me tune to F#, so I've had to use this tuning. The bottom E string does feel a bit floppy though if you really attack it, have you noticed that at all?

Btw if you didn't notice, I posted pictures of my septor in the gear thread Smile

The one that I use is E A E A D G B E, it's like standard tuning with the 2 lowest strings on a bass for when I'm not playing in a band and just looking for some nice bass accompaniment to my lighter playing. And then for Red Seas Fire stuff we're doing I use the guitar as a 7 string in Drop A with a lower register should I need it.

Tosin Abasi uses the EBEADGBE tuning. And Chris Letchford from STS uses BEADGBEA on his 8 string. I think those are both cool tunings. And the guys in Meshuggah use F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb sometimes.

I've been using F-Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb (take out high Eb string) on my 7 string and been lovin' it.

What gauge strings? How does the F feel? Is it floppy?

I'd honestly like to have a 30" scale for that tuning. Or maybe even a 28.625".
