Okay, I am considering getting an 8 string. I play left handed so It doesn't leave me many options. I really like my Schecter Blackjack 7 string so getting the 8 string version seems like a reasonable choice. Also, I was looking into the Carvin DC800 and Agile Intrepid. Any other suggestions?

Musiciansfriend.com always has 8-string guitars, amongst other ERG(extended range guitars) for left-handed players. Free shipping & discounts, plus 3-year warranties. If that helps.

I'll probably check it out later to be sure what they have.

Edit: Checked out Musiciansfriend.com, yeah they just seem to have the Schecter 8, as an 8-string. But did run into Leftyfretz.com. Every website that makes 8-strings for lefties & custom jobs.

So hey, check out Leftyfretz.com.

Screw Agile. Many people pray to Agile and I cant figure out why. Those guitars are junk. I have a ESP LTD SC-608 and fucking love it. While its pricey, you can the 208 for like 500 bucks

Don't get the Agile. The Blackjack or the ESP would be good, but if you don't mind paying the extra cost the Carvin is definitely better!

I need at least a 28" scale with 8 strings, I'm done with anything less. Short scales for short dicks I guess? I kid. But hah the sc608 is 27" scale- sorry but not my thing. Overpriced and same overseas bullshit as Agiles. A lot of Agile haters yeah? How about using some thick ass low strings on tiny "baritone" scales with drop E. Lol. Ill take my custom Agile 30" scale with way smaller gauge strings anyday.. but 27" with drop E is definitely possibly and doesnt sound horrible.

I think my sweet spot is probably the 28" because I can get away with thinner strings and still make nice bends and stretches.

The new Carvins are beautiful though wow...

For the price and quality, how does Agile suck? You are most likely biased and uneducated regarding this brand because mine are nicer than a lot of other 8 strings I've played. And I like basically every brand of 8s, not biased.

I've tried Agiles, ESP's and Ibanez's. Agiles really have nothing going for em except the longer scale (which is nice). Aesthetically the look like 2x4's with strings on em, unless you get a Septor which do look good. Price wise, you get what you pay for. Crappy hardware, cheap wood. No fret markers (which does bug me). The only good agiles are the more expensive ones, in which case you could just buy a Schecter or Ibanez anyway.

Ibanez are okay. They are a bit overpriced though. Most have an annoying fret buzz on the F# string. Again, short scale. Aesthetically, they look like Ibanez lol. Usually just black.

ESP is my brand of choice. Decent hardware, no string buzz, decent wood. However, one issue is the scale as you said. I do wish it could be just and inch longer maybe
