Anyone out there getting any good metal/djenty tones out of their Line 6 Pod X3? I've been trying really hard to get an Axe Fx like super chunky djent tone (Like Periphery/After the Burial/Veil of Maya) out of the X3s, and have come real close for Line 6, but I'm looking to make it better so if you have any advice please let me know.
My typical setup: Noise Gate --> Screamer --> Line 6 Big Bottom/Treadplate cab --> EQ

I'm using Pod Farm 2.5 myself, but most of my patches look similar to that, with one difference; I like to add a compressor and another noise gate after the initial gate, just to get the input super-crisp. Unfortunately, you lose a lot of the dynamics, but if you're looking for just pure djent, give the compressor a try.

Sorry in advance if my suggestion is rendered invalid by the fact that the X3 doesn't let you add multiple instances of a single gear category - I don't know, I don't own one.

so it would be Comp -> Gate -> Screamer -> Gate -> Amp?

Compressor goes between the two gates before anything else happens, so
Gate-->Compressor-->Gate-->EQ-->Dist.-->Amp

I backed the threshold and decay off on the first gate so that it's just taking off a little hum. The compressor is at half threshold and half gain, so the signal is boosted without losing too much of the dynamic range. Finally, the last gate is set to full choke, to really tighten up that signal. I'm actually running my EQ before the amp/pedal setup; personal preference, but I think it sounds a bit crisper.

Last thing I did was to double the patch and I run slightly less gain on one side with a slightly different EQ, and the stereo width makes all the difference. I'm pretty happy with this patch, but I've also been working on it for quite some time, so I don't want to give away all my secrets Smile

the x3 wont let you have more than one stomp of each so using dual gate wont work unless you got a ns2 or isp laying around. If you want good tight tone get away from the big bottom, yeah everyone uses it for demos but if you want a good tight tone mix either the slo100 with the 5150 model and use a eq to roll some bass off and boost some mids and to tame the high end fizz. Or same thing but with the engl pball and 5150 or engl pball and slo you get the idea but also the compressor after everythign works wounders too.

Heres a good video for yeah to watch dont have to use the effects or the amp models but the eq is where its at.
