Best strings for a 6 string Ibanez?

I've been looking for some good strings so I can down tune my guitar, I would like to get a sound similar to Veil Of Maya. What brand and what gauge would you guys recommend? I have heard that buying a set of strings for a 7 string and ditching the one with the highest pitch can get me a better tone but since I'm a new player I have no idea if that's a good idea. Any help would be much appreciated.

I get 10-60's from GHS for my 6 strings in B. if my machine heads could take them I'd have the 11-70's on instead that GHS makes.

That's a good plan. D'addario has a 7-string set, you could do that with. What you could do, is buy a few 7-string sets to have an idea of what your looking for. But buy other gauges to try. Juststrings.com sell custom combined string sets.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be sure to check that site out. I went to guitar center and got some ghs 11-70s to use for the time being since they didn't carry and 13-65s but I'll definitely look into getting some more suitable strings as soon as possible.

Hey, i ussualy buy dean markley's "DT" (drop tuning) strings, my newest ibanez also has thick ass string on it, but im not sure the model or size, but deff try the dean markleys, i jsut picked up there step down from the |DT| to try them out. I play in drop c, b, and a.

Yeah I probably should have included the model in the first post. I have a GRGA32T, not the best guitar but it's something.

Veil of Maya use Drop B, so I would use 12-54s. DR Tite-Fits are my favourite. If I really had a custom set it would have a 13-54 set, to get thicker strings on top. Not a fan of the massive low 65 on a B. I use a 62 for Drop A.
