Fighting Frequencies

I have this problem with my mix currently, using Cubase 5.x and SD2. I am using the Bleeed preset for SD2 just as something to play along too. Now the problem is when I get to the chorus, distorted guits panned hard L and R and bass Center, every time the snare 'hits' it takes away from the whole mix, like a tiny black hole sucks the mix in to the snare for that 3 milliseconds every hit.
For the intro and verse, it seems okay, AND through headphones it sounds okay - but as soon as I play it back through speakers to hear difference - bam the snare is horrible.
Now I am not sure if this is a frequency clash thing or if it's my speakers, logitech z-5500. But it does the same thing in my car too - so it has to be frequency right? I am quite lost.
I plan on buying Berhinger truths monitors later this year, but for now computer speakers will have to do.
Any ideas, that I may not have thought of as to why this could be happening?

what joey says - eq everything in it´s place.
but could it also be SD or the cubase output is set too loud? if it is, the extra snare could add too much and falcon punches everything else out of the mix. keep it all in a safe green area.
if your loudness is fine than it could also be your speakers aren´t that good and are easily overwhelmed. or your sound card can´t cope with it too good cause i got the same problem with my laptop. my computer does it all perfect but on my laptop even pro bands like periphery and such tend to be smashed when the snare hits.
if my ideas are wrong please someone correct me cause it´s late here and my brains are scrambled.

buy monitors of better quality then Beringer they really not much of a step above computer speakers. but back on topic you're right, your issue is with the frequency's. You have to use an EQ and pick what is going to sit where in your mix.
