How did you discover Djent?

Title says it all(:

My first expierinces with anything djent like were when i picked up obzen by Meshuggah about 2 years ago. At the time i didn't even know it was a term. It wasnt until i found out about animals as leaders, (about 6 months ago.) that i started hearing the term!

Animals As Leaders was the first band I heard, and still the best I think haha. I don't even remember how I discovered got-djent... But this website is full of awesome shit, for sure

I kind of hate the term. I was listening to Meshuggah and similar bands way before the word came into use.

First time is when I heard Meshuggah about 3-4 years back and joined the mesh forum. I heard the term used on the mesh forum a few times and have since learned that it was made by Bulb in reference to the sound you get when you palm mute a chord with tight distortion, it is NOT the sound of chugging a single string as some people think it is.

I discovered it when I heard Bulb for the 1st time a few month ago.

the term was not made by meshuggah, the sound that the term represents is from meshuggah, but Bulb made the term on the meshuggah forum.

that's actually not true, the term was coined by Fredrik Thordendal himself. Bulb merely popularised it Smile

There is an interview with Misha somewhere on YouTube where he even says it was a term created by Meshuggah. If i find it, I will post it up on here.
