Sorry for posting so many questions haha, but this is my first time recording and have no one else to ask. I have an Ibanez RGA8 and I've been recording my rhythm sections with it, I use my Jackson RR24m for the leads and sounds fucking good and clear but the RGA8 sounds a little shitty, definitely the shit stain stock pickups and will have to upgrade them but can anyone please tell me how to make them sound better? any tricks or patches and effects that you know sounds good with this guitar and pickups?

i had the same guitar, it s impossible to make stock PU sound better...they are very muddy...but i changed them with seymour duncan blackouts 8 and then the guitar worked better...i think that with a mohogany body the better and low cost choice is emg 808 PU, the S D(my opinion) don t work well on that guitar, then i sold the rga and i bought a schecter hr c8...now the problem is 26,5" scale Laughing out loud...no problem as you know i ordered a mayones regius Laughing out loud....finally...change stock pu

mayones look really good Smile and beautiful, I'm thinking about getting a Carvin 7 string but I'm not sure how they are? The RGA8 is really pissing me off, on the lower strings if you push harder the notes change so my recodings sounds like my guitar is out of tune Sad haha

same with a billion guitars Laughing out loud...try to get emg 808 . the rga 8 s mohogany is good and also the neck (27") is very confortable..that guitar isn t build for ibanez stock pu but for smart people how buy with 100 $ good PU and achieve the same sound of others 8 strings guitars medium price range 1200-1600 $ ..if you dream a "no problems" 8 strings guitar the range is different..2000-3000 $ Sad. i ve never played carvin s guitars , so i can t say anything Laughing out loud

Not quite sure what gauges, living in South Africa you take what you get... but I play in dropped A, I can import new strings but it takes a month - 4 and you risk losing it too

Do not forget the Ibanez RGA8 come factory preset. So even if you change the strings, either gauge & settings, the truss rod will need adjusting. Without compensating for that change the strings, intonation & tuning will be suspect.

Unless done by a trained luthier....sometimes we are our own worse enemy...
