what exactly is the problem?

do you have a fixed tempo and time signature for the click track?

You can try going into the UX2's properties and selecting a larger audio buffer size if the sound you are getting is patchy or lags.
If the metronome is just inconsistent with other things you've previously recorded or the like, poke around in your DAW and see if your tempo settings vary from clip to clip.

Yeah, a little more info would help Smile But this may be a buffer issue with the Line6 ASIO drivers (If we are talking about a PC, not a Mac). Take a look at the line6 support forums for anyone else experiencing this problem (if this is to do with recording ONLY). What is your DAW? System specs? Your recording session environment - running VSTi's, pod farm, etc? Track count?

My workaround for this is to use the latest ASIO4ALL driver pack for my UX1 card, it runs beautifully with those drivers. If I switch to the line6 drivers in Cubase I get sync issues also after a minute or so of recording. Driver updates do not help, and buffer settings changes in the control panel do not affect this problem for me, so I simply use a workaround.
EDIT: of course, this is system specific only

but make sure you check Joey's suggestions above first, then give us some more details.

I've been thinking maybe its a buffer size problem but am too inexperienced to know what I'm doing in changing them. The problem occurs during recording and during playback and their are pre set tempo changes and the like. when i record i use my ux2 as the entire audio device in reaper. as far as i know all of my line 6 software is up to date.

the markers were made by the guitar pro midi file i imported for the drums so i figured i would just play over top of those but thats when it starts getting glitchy.

I'm using a macbook pro from this year as far as specs go all i know to tell you is

2.3GHz intel core i5 processor

4Gb 1333 MHz DDR3

3 tracks its happened with two, never one only vsti running is metal foundry

Reaper is pretty good with macs and PC's it sounds like a buffer rate issue. go to Options>preferences>Buffering and look at Media Buffer size. The bigger that number is the more smoother reaper should be.

my buffer rate is at 1200 at the moment. just keep in mind the higher it is the slower it will take for play back to start.
