New Basick band

on their Facebook page just now:
Basick Records New signing announced this week! You know the music that's playing when Bill & Ted travel to the future, that brings about Inter-Galactic Peace? Yeah. It's better than that.
I unconsciously associated the "future" and "inter-galactic" bits with Chimp Spanner. And then I started thinking, this would make sense... as someone on the chat mentioned, he did a photo shoot a few days ago... also he's been going on and on about some big news coming up that he couldn't reveal yet. And he continued doing that after the news about the endorsement, so it wasn't that.
So yeah, it's totally Chimp Spanner. Must be.
What dyou think about my theory
The Basick PR guy (who is also in Tesseract) is in the middle of a promo campaign for Chimp Spanner so it would make sense. It isn't Tesseract, I know some of the labels they are talking to and they are certainly bigger than Basick, so it would be a surprise if it was them...

awesome
I hope they announce it soon.

I guess that's that sorted then! I never knew Jim worked for Basick.

I wonder why signing to basick would require Chimp to rerecord his videos though... I think something else is afoot.

Well, there's my answer. On his formspring.me page:
Q: When are you planning on forming a band with actual people? We wanna see you live!!
A: It's going to happen. Soon. Before the end of the year
And I'm not lying or anything!
fuck yes.

I would travel quite far to see a Chimp gig.

Chimpspanner is rerecording his videos to add effects I'm think. He bought one of those flexible tripods to make headstock type shots etc, so pretty sure they are being re-edited with some nice effects. Said they would be up in a few days, so if he has signed for Basick, which seems likely, maybe will be adding some Basick logo's/promos as well. He's also said he will redo them when his BC Rich Guitar's arrive. One thing I'm not so sure about is Basick said they were going back to their roots and the 'tech metal' fans would be happy. Paul's stuff, whilst amazing, isn't really that techy, especially by the standards of some of the stuff on Basick. (Shy of the Depth anyone?), but with the whole sci-fi type stuff. Can't think who else it would be.
And yeah, James/Jim from TesseracT works for Invictus PR, who seem to be doing a lot of promo work for a few UK labels (not just Basick). He's on twitter as well and usually has some interesting tweets. Has replied to me before when I asked him about Mos working for Fighstar, seem a pretty nice guy! His partner in crime at promo work for Basick is also really nice as well

Oh lawd. I just got a boner.

This has been confirmed now.

Good theory, I can definitely see it happening if Paul is intending to take his music live (which would be amaaaazing). It'd be great to see him get some proper label promotion, he deserves all the success possible.
Another possibility I suppose is Tesseract. It doesn't match the Bill and Ted description, if we're meant to read anything at all into that, but it'd make sense as Acle has already worked with them when he was in FellSilent. That's something I could see happening in the near future too, now the album is already complete and all.
Exciting stuff anyway, I like Basick a lot, they're a bit like the UK Sumerian (but not as good). They sent me a free CD once and all just because I'd bought a t-shirt that was the wrong size - which was totally my fault. Nice guys.
