Hi all, I'm currently using ProTools 8.5 LE on a MacBook Pro 2.5 duo core, 4 gigs of ram. It doesn't take much for me to hit the cpu limit after adding a few plugins to several tracks.

I was wondering if by switching to Logic I'd have better cpu/resource usage? Anyone have an idea?

Thanks -

what kind of plugins are you using? and are you using AUX sends to help with the CPU issues? example being putting a reverb on an AUX track and sending tracks to that reverb rather then a reverb per track.

I'm using Aux sends where I can, I'm sure there's still room for improvement there.

Plug in's wise Normally SD2.0, MellowMuse IR loader, an EQ and compression and sometimes Ozone 5.0 (which eats up like 40% of my CPU, wonder if it's a bug? Hence I'm not using it much). Of course not all these on every track.

Have you tried both DAW's?

yes I have used both don't like neither one personally.

SD could eat up a lot of CPU if you're multi bus'ing out, if so try printing your drums down to wav files so that you no longer need SD running. This can help out a bit. Ozone is a mastering plugin so its natural for it to devour your memory. other then that you'd need a better computer DAW swapping wont do too much for performance really.
