Hey guys a recent post by 2HeadedEagle got me thinking that it may be beneficial for someone to write on recording and mixing. So I got the idea to start writing a book on the subject.

this is going to take me a long time to do but I think it will benefit the community to have this. to help others get better sounding recordings and so on. I'm releasing one chapter at a time as I go and I'm going to start at the bare basics and move on to the more complex as I go along.

anyways comment and help me come up with future subjects to talk about. The more Ideas and support I get the more in depth this will be.

anyways here is what I got done so far:

CH1 Starting up
CH2 How Sound Works
CH3 Microphones

P.S. If anyone knows how to add pictures in open office I'd love to hear how since I'll need it for the next installment.

P.P.S. Anyone that wants to help out on this project is more then welcome.

I find this really cool. So I would like to help. Not in context, since most of you are better than me in mixing. But in comverting the text into latex since it will have a more scientific flavor. Best would be if you pm me and send me the documents and where you want the images. The end will be a book everybody schould access. Mabe a cool title would be awesome, like: The primer of homerecording: a view of the djent community. Or something like that. We could licence it to gpl or whatever. This ensures that all textpassages are open for everyone to read or use for free, but not copy to earn money.
These are just some thoughts. What do you all think?
I really dig your idea.

nice to hear I'm getting some support I'll for sure send some files your way residue. right now I just have this rough thing, would be nice to get a more polished look to it and have that copyright thing you were talking about.

I'm going to try and release a "chapter" once a week. depending on how busy I get I may have to delay every now and again but it should be pretty steady flow of info and plenty of time between instalments for people to comment and give ideas to future topics or even ask questions.

okay joey. No problem about the delays. I guess everybody is working or studying.
Example:
I live in Germany. At the monent I am in Canada for work. Going home on friday. In 2-3 weeks I will be in China for a few weeks (as usual on business). I can start in these 2-3 weeks at home, working on a layout for the book. Would be cool if you use any textpassages from somebody else to quote them. I know its a bitch. But this is quite convenient in latex. So just give me a list in an unformal style. I will polish that up.

And the polished look thing: leave that to latex. I just need the plain text. A .txt file works fine for that. I actually prefer a .txt file, since latex is plain text. I will show you what I mean next week. I will used the unpolished work you already published. Only think i will need is the linebreaks.

I am not flawless since my written english sucks. So i will need a flawless written text. Or we stay human Laughing out loud

I suck in design though. Could someone here make some artwork for the front cover? Please in .eps formate?

I'm releasing it for free. I may implement a donation thing in the future but I'm not going to worry about that yet. I'm going to focus on getting some stuff written up first and see what people want me to talk about and go from there.
