I run a blog, The Great Northern BlogkillThe Great Northern Blogkill, and i was wondering what you guys want in a blog? I look to create a good mixture of humour and serious reviewing, because taking shit too seriously is boring.

What other blogs do you guys read?

Dude, thenewreview.net. They turned me on to pretty much every single djent band I listen to and I get all my music updates from them. Humor is good, as well as diversity and a lack of bias. Be open-minded.

Yep, thenewreview is great. Generally, what I always wish for in blogs about music or other popular culture is openmindedness. Never disregard anything because you think you have to. That's what I try to do myself when I write reviews. It's really important, I think.
Also someone writing about such things should never deny his subjectivity, quite the opposite: lay it open onto the table, and have thought his basics through very well.
What is objectivity, what is subjectivity? What rethoric style to use and how does it effect the reader? How do metaphors work and where to use them properly? Such questions, perhaps even more basic ones. It makes the writer more precise and sure about what he does.

I also kinda like people who take their subject really seriously, perhaps even overthink it a bit. I like to get theoretical insight I didn't have before. Good example when it comes to gaming would be the video blog "Extra Credits" on Penny Arcade. This show is right up my alley.
I'm still not averse to humor. Humorous delivery can be extremely deep and thoughtful. Only thing to consider: Only use humorous style if you're really good at it. You'll make a fool of yourself otherwise.
Nothing is worse than interesting thoughts broken by shallow jokes or unfitting wordplay.
