Formed in September of 2010, Collections initially intended to become a hardcore band. After writing their first song, "Lights", and messing around with ideas for their next, Erik and Evan discovered they were capable of playing more complicated riffs and patterns than they first thought. Writing "Disastrophe" and "Phobia" next, the progression from hardcore-inspired to a more groove-oriented technical sound is noticeable.
Their first album was recorded from December 2011 to March 2013 with Karl Schubach (Misery Signals, Solace), and was released on June 25, 2013.
