With one of modern metal's most unique songwriters (Marc Okubo) teaming up with one of the leading lights of djent (Misha Mansoor), Veil Of Maya's 'Eclipse' is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated releases of this year. There was a lot of interest in reviewing this one among the got-djent.com moderation team, so instead of writing five individual reviews, we decided to sit down and talk about the good and the bad of the band's fourth full-length album. An interactive review, as it were.

This is the first time we do something like this, so feel free to leave some feedback in the comments!

Times Square have published an interview with Misha "Bulb" Mansoor of Periphery. In it he talks about the origin of the band's name, their recent line-up changes, plans for the future and more.

Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor has just posted a new article on his column on Metalsucks titled 'The Art of [Not] Burning Bridges'. The article summarizes what is behind the music in the music industry, such as the difficulty of starting a band, the necessity of business skills, elitism and criticizing other bands.

Misha Mansoor a.k.a. Bulb has posted two new AxeFX II test clips on his SoundCloud page. Listen to them below. He writes: "[The first one is] a quick clip I whipped up to test the Axefx II in a recording. [...] Guitar is my Bernie Rico Jr. Jekyll 7 string with a set of BKP Aftermath Pickups. Guitar is tuned to Drop Ab. [The second one is for] testing a clean patch i made with the Axefx II. Used my Decibel Javelin 7 string for this test which has a BKP Aftermath set".

Periphery have posted a video on their YouTube channel, featuring their guitarist Misha "Bulb" Mansoor demonstrating his new Decibel dB1 guitar. Watch it below. He also writes: "Just got my Decibel dB1! Figured i would record a quick video so you can hear how it sounds. I'm plugging into my Axefx Ultra and direct to my Mackie HR624 (Mk1) Monitors". Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor of Periphery has uploaded a short video update from Taylor Larson's studio in Maryland. Watch it below. The video contains a 1.5 second clip of the music from the upcoming full-length album saying "You know, we don't want to give too much away since we used to give away everything."

Blistering have published an interview with Misha Mansoor of Periphery. In it, he talks about the band's recently released Icarus Lives! EP, plans for a new album, touring plans, and more. Also Blast Radio has published an audio interview with him, from the band's Birmingham date at the LXD tour on February 1st.

On February 19th, TotalRock radio aired an interview with Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor. The interview was conducted by Malcolm Dome when the band were in London a week prior, and aired during his show 'Doom & Co'. A recording is available for download from Sendspace.

A second video of Misha Mansoor (Bulb, Periphery, Haunted Shores) at NAMM 2011 in Anaheim, California, USA, has been published on YouTube. Watch it below. This video features Misha playing Periphery's new track 'Frak The Gods' on a Mayones Setius Blakkheim guitar through the Egnater Armageddon amplifier. The first video, also featuring Mark Holcomb of Haunted Shores, was posted earlier this month.

Being have put up an instrumental version of their song 'Cosmonaut' on their Soundcloud page. It is produced and features a guest solo by Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor. The track is also available on their Myspace page and their Facebook page.

Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor, AKA Bulb, has posted a new track titled 'New Groove' on his SoundClick page. It is available for streaming and download. He writes: "So I finally caved and after a year of you guys asking, here it is: New Groove! This also serves as an official test clip of the brand new Bareknuckle Aftermath 7 string Bridge pickup [...]."

Bulb has been named 'Artist of the Month' by Toontrack. They have posted an extensive video interview, in which he talks about writing, recording and his usage of Toontrack's products. On Facebook, he says: "It's such an honor for me since I love and live by their products, as I'm sure a lot of you guys know." He has also released a new song (as a test clip) on his Soundclick page named 'Mile Zero'.

An Obscure Signal have uploaded a new song titled 'Before The Devil Knows You're Dead' to their Myspace page. The song will be featured on their upcoming debut EP 'Creations', which they recorded with Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor of Periphery. Lyrics are also available on Myspace. Another song off the EP, 'Nature Of Monsters', was posted a few weeks ago. The EP is slated for release on August 24th.

Mirovia Magazine has published an interview with vocalist Alex Mola and guitarist Walter J Huaman, in which they talk about the EP and its concept, their cooperation with Misha Mansoor, their gear and instruments, touring, and more.

Periphery have posted a video in which two of the band's guitarists, Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor and Jake Bowen, demo the Atomic MB-50 Poweramp in combination with the Fractal AxeFx Ultra. Watch it below. They also indicate in the video description that they are all going to be switching to AxeFx for their live rigs.

This evening, Maz Star of TotalRock.com radio conducted a 20 minute phone interview with Misha Mansoor of Periphery, while the band were gearing up for a show with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders and Darkest Hour in California later tonight. In it, he discusses touring, the 'djent movement', influences, their signing to Roadrunner Records, the leaking of their album a week prior to its release, and more.
