The Interbeing - Edge of the Obscure
After releasing their debut EP, 'Perceptual Confusion', back in the mists of 2008 many people began to look forward to a full-length album from this Danish band. We have had to wait for almost three years to hear it. Finally, to the delight of all fans of technical metal, the band released a LP, titled 'Edge of the Obscure'.
Immediately, after a brief intro, a listener is brought upon a flurry of furious riffs, overflowing with drive and energy. All this is accompanied by clear and harsh vocals, that are good combined with heavy guitars. As a result, the listener is slowly immersed in an unknown musical world, filled with all sorts of futuristic images and pictures that do not give the possibility to be distracted from what is going on. High-speed riffs and cosmic ambiances combine to give the sound a certain similarity with the Swiss band Sybreed.
The tracks are also richly flavoured with catchy melodies and sometimes unexpected changes of rhythm. Among them I would like to highlight 'Face Deletion', featured on the previous EP, which has undergone little changes in its sounding, 'Pulse within the Paradox' and the final instrumental track 'Ledge of Oblivion', which captures by its incredible atmosphere of despair, created by amazing keyboards.
Strong points of this album are powerful sound and great vocals, which do not allow listener to get bored for a single second. In addition, I’d like to mark out interesting guitar passages and transitions.
To conclude, I think that 'Edge of the Obscure' comes to the expectations placed on him and is very interesting and strong release.
