If Born Of Osiris's older releases were anything to go by, "The Discovery" would have been another awful deathcore album with some rare and sparkling glints of mediocrity. Let's face it, "The New Reign" was anything but fantastic. But the generic, breakdown-laden tracks like "Bow Down" and the rambling catastrophe's that were ultimately doomed to go nowhere like "Now Arise" have miraculously disappeared.

A complete reinvigoration

Up until now, Born Of Osiris have frankly been a disappointment. While debut release 'The New Reign' may have showed promise in its more melodic and progressive moments, it was unpolished and unrefined, and any hope for a shift towards these favourable elements was seemingly discarded upon the arrival of the follow-up, 'A Higher Place'. Now mired in turgid breakdowns and feeble attempts at technicality, Born Of Osiris seemed to have thrown away their chance to be at the forefront of heavy music's development.

Key word there being 'seemed'.

I've been waiting for this album for a long time and finally it lives up to all my expectations. From beginning to end it captures all that this band have tried to achieve since forming. Ripping your head off from the opening riff they've manged to add their names to the ever growing list of great djent bands.

Pushing genres to limits boldly

When I saw Born of Osiris on here, I thought that fans were joking from past works until I heard the Discovery. It's simply an amazing album. Where to start?
